John has always had a love for nature. The look, the smells, sounds. It was not long in his life before he became unhappy with experiencing these things from afar. Spending most of his free time staring into the forest wishing to be free from his boring life. Free to run in the forest grass, climb its trees and live off the land.
John has always had a love for nature. The look, the smells, sounds. It was not long in his life before he became unhappy with experiencing these things from afar. When he got his chance to leave his normal town life behind for forest life he jumped at the chance.
This chance was given to him by Longstar, a chimera he sniffed out while staring into the forest one night. Impressed by his heightened senses (among other things) Longstar offered him a spot in Aurora Clan.
He started his training as a warrior and is now an apprentice. Given the clan name Brighthope by Longstar, and later the Alias “Mordecai Castillo” a false name to be used in town, John works hard to help his clan and learn their ways, which is a tiring job. Though johns sleep is rarely a break from his clan duties, as a guardian of star clan visits him in his dreams giving him visions of the future and past, warning him of threats.
Brighthope Begins His Warrior Training
John now addressed by his new clan name "Brighthope" begins his warrior training. As an officially a ranked member of Aurora Clan , he begins his apprenticeship learning the basics of survival in the forest starting off with the skill of scenting locations and animals.
Forest Rangers Look For Missing John
After the first forest ranger sighting the day prior its suspected a search for the missing child is underway. This is confirmed when more forest rangers show up in the forest calling John out by name prompting him to go into hiding until their search ends. Additionally, the rangers presence deep in the forest causes a strain in his relationship with some of his clanmates.
John Catches His First Prey
After a few rounds of hunting training with Longstar, John catches and kills a bird marking his first contribution to the fresh kill pile. But not without the expected difficulties involved with asking a nine-and-a-half year old to kill an animal with his bare hands. The experience making him doubt himself, and later hunting obsessively to desensitize himself from the unpleasance of killing animals for food.
